Michael Galvin

I build the strategy and systems that help startups grow.

Over the last few years, I've worked with consumer startups on everything from ad campaigns to product health, and built AI agents to handle inbound and outbound for clients. I founded NiBL, a food delivery platform, and led go-to-market and growth at WOM (a16z Speedrun 006). I also manage brand partnerships for leading creators in music.

I'm Mike

I grew up in Saratoga, in upstate New York, and spent my summers in the Adirondacks. That's where my love for the outdoors started, especially biking and hiking. I attended Hudson Valley Community College before moving to NYC to study economics at Columbia University.

I love traveling (check out the tickets below for photos), and lately I've been training for a half marathon. Once you hit 25, it's either running or pickleball. I should have gone with the latter.

I've been trying to trade the nightly Netflix binge for a book, with a goal of reading one new book each month. My most recent read was Bullshit Jobs by David Graeber. I also love cooking and spending a weekend exploring a museum I haven't visited before.

I spend a lot of time following questions that interest me. Recently, I've been researching how AI is changing the tasks within jobs: which tasks people still do themselves, which they delegate to AI, and what oversight that requires. I'm particularly interested in how those changes differ across industries and how quickly they happen as new models are released.

I also organize an annual book drive across more than 10 universities and businesses, donating books to incarcerated people throughout New York State. I believe everyone should have access to education, and this is one way I try to contribute.

Professionally, I've been the first growth and data insights hire at WOM, an a16z-backed startup in Speedrun 006, done freelance growth work for companies like Sage, and founded my own food delivery platform, NiBL. Those experiences have taught me a lot about finding the right partners, managing a budget, making hiring decisions, and recognizing when it's time to change direction.

I'm happiest when I'm deep in research or building something I believe can make a difference.

Work

Sage — Head of Growth (Contract) · Mar 2026 — now

More outreach. The same team.

I built and deployed a five-agent outreach system that finds relevant businesses and contacts, checks the research against a defined rubric, writes and sends outreach, and keeps the CRM updated. A reply monitor scans the inbox and texts us when a high-priority prospect needs a response. The system increased weekly outreach 4x without adding headcount, while keeping a person responsible for the conversations that matter.

I established the product analytics and reporting system: a North Star metric, a KPI framework, an event taxonomy, and dashboards spanning acquisition through retention. I also manage a $5K monthly paid acquisition budget, from audiences and creative tests to conversion tracking and weekly optimization.

Across user research, onboarding, email, push notifications, and channel tests, I turn what we learn into experiments aimed at activation and retention.

Independent — Brand Partnerships & Campaign Strategy · Jun 2026 — now

Agents find the fit. I make the deal.

My multi-agent system runs brand sourcing, outreach, QA, and meeting booking for creators with a combined audience of 1.1M+. It brings me high-fit brands to negotiate with personally.

The pipeline generated $60K for one creator in a single month, exceeding his previous full-year total. I also shape the campaigns, from creative briefs to competitions, livestreams, and short-form content.

NiBL — Founder · May – Aug 2026

A new route from a brand to a doorstep.

NiBL was a food delivery platform that put brand samples inside orders. I built the business from zero, securing 6 CPG brand partners, 100+ restaurant LOIs, and 3 office partnerships.

I ran acquisition through door-to-door outreach, flyering, paid ads, and social content. Early feedback took us from a WhatsApp MVP to a standalone app in under 2 months.

WOM (a16z Speedrun 006) — GTM & Data Insights Manager · Sep 2025 – May 2026

Find where people stop. Start there.

As WOM’s first growth and data insights hire, I built a campus ambassador network that brought in 500+ early users, and conducted 100+ user interviews to connect what people said with what they did in the product.

I found a payment drop-off that led to a Stripe-to-Venmo switch and a 60% increase in payment connection completion. A TikTok scraper I built compiled 5,000+ restaurant entries to guide content and growth.

Research — Columbia Economics honors thesis · Aug 2024 – May 2025

Fire, Labor, and Recommitment

Does the kind of work people do in California’s fire camps relate to what happens after release? I organized 37,000+ records, built a geospatial dataset, and used linear and logistic regression models and exact matching to study fire exposure and recommitment.

Matched samples showed fewer returns to fire camp among people from camps with greater wildfire exposure, though the pattern did not hold in every regression model. The data captures returns to fire camps, not all reoffending. It can’t fully distinguish rehabilitation through purposeful work from a reluctance to return to camp.

Side builds, experiments, and ideas I couldn’t leave alone.

The Museum

My resume as a 3D museum you can walk through. Step through a Butler Library–style entrance into a hall where each room is a chapter of my work, with the projects, numbers and stories behind them.

Every recruiter asks the same thing: "Walk me through your resume." So I built one you can actually walk through.

Pixel Stacks

A free library you can walk through. Wander a pixel-art reading room, pull a book off the shelf, and read it right in your browser. Thousands of public-domain classics, no sign-up, no ads.

I've run a book drive for incarcerated people for about five years. This is the same idea for anyone online: a library that's always open and never charges a thing.
